GRAND CANYON: MATHER POINT

While I was excited to spend time in Arizona, I was fully prepared to be underwhelmed by the Grand Canyon.   It seems that more often people are talking about the Grand Canyon as a destination to check off a bucket list, as opposed to place to spend time and explore.

We drove into the park and got out of our car at Mather Point.  We followed the walkway to one of the overlooks and my fears of being underwhelmed were instantly forgotten.  The Grand Canyon is spectacular – it’s cliché but the vastness was quite literally breathtaking.

A morning haze lingered in the canyon.  We looked at the rock formations and craned our necks to try to see the canyon floor.  We pulled out our binoculars and gazed; we strolled and took pictures.  Then we retreated to the car, eager to get into canyon.
